Anak ko

         Ang buhay ay handog sa atin ng Poong Maykapal. Ibinigay Niya sa atin nang may buong pagmamahal at pagtitiwala. Pagtitiwalang ito ay ating aalagaan at pakaiingatan. Pero ano nga ba ang ginagawa natin sa regalong buhay na ito? Minamahal nga ba natin ito at pinag-iingatan? Pinagyayabong ba natin ito at itinuturing na sagrado at banal? Ilan lamang ang mga katanungang ito na kailangang sagutin ng tao sa araw ng paghuhusga. Ano nga ba ang ginawa mo sa buhay na regalo sa iyo ng Diyos? Naririto ang isang maikling kathang kwento lamang ngunit kapupulutan ng aral na sa hinaharap ay maaaring magligtas sa iyo sa mainit na apoy ng impiyerno…

          Nasa ika-apat na antas sa High School si Magda. Mula pagkabata ay kasali siya sa mga nabibigyan ng karangalan at medalya sa tuwing magtatapos ang taon. Matalino siya at mabait na dalagita para sa kanyang mga magulang na sina Aling Marta at Mang Berto. Nag-iisa lamang nilang anak si Magda kung kaya mahal na mahal nila ito at halos ibigay na nila ang lahat sa kanya. Hindi naman palahingi si Magda pero basta may kailanganin ito ay agad-agad na ibinibigay ng kanyang mga magulang. Ayaw nilang sasama ang loob ng kanilang anak.

         Nagkaroon ng paligsahan sa pagtula sa kanilang lungsod at lahat ng paaralan ay inimbitahan na magpadala ng kani-kanilang mga kalahok. Dahil mahusay si Magda sa pagtula, siya ang ipinadala ng kanilang paaralan sa timpalak na ito. Nang malaman ito ng mga magulang niya, tuwang-tuwa sila at ipinagmamalaki nila si Magda sa kanilang mga kaibigan. Halos hindi na nila binibigyan ng gawaing-bahay si Magda para makapag-ensayo itong mabuti.

         Dumating ang araw ng timpalak. Mahusay ang pagkatula ni Magda. Ngunit may mas mahusay kaysa sa kanya, si Danilo. Nagmula si Danilo sa kabilang paaralan sa lungsod. Napakahusay nga niyang tumula at napaka-kisig pa nitong binata. Mahusay makipag-usap at mukha naming maginoo. Agad naging magkaibigan sila at naging madalas ang kanilang pagkikita kapag walang pasok. Hindi naman nila napapabayaan ang kanilang pag-aaral ngunit nabawasan ang kanilang panahon ng paglagi sa bahay. Dahil dito, madalas napapagalitan na nina Mang Berto at Aling Marta si Magda.

          Nang kausapin ng mag-asawa ang anak, inamin ng dalagita na iniibig na niya si Danilo. May pagkalungkot na naramdaman ang mag-asawa ngunit hindi nila ito ipinahalata sa anak sa pag-aalalang baka ito ay magtampo sa kanila. Sa halip pinaalalahanan na lamang nila itong huwag pababayaan ang pag-aaral at maging inspirasyon si Danilo sa pagtupad ng kanyang mga pangarap. Nangako naman si Magda na ito nga ang gagawin niya.

         Lumipas ang mga buwan at minsan napansin ng ina na matamlay na nakaupo si Magda sa may bintana. Tinanong niya ang anak at sa halip na sumagot ito ay napahagulgol ng iyak. Inamin ng dalaga na siya ay nagdadalang-tao at nang sabihin niya ito kay Danilo, sinabi sa kanya ng kasintahan na huwag nitong ituloy ang pagbubuntis at ipalaglag na lang ang bata. Nang hindi siya pumayag sa gusto ng kasintahan, hindi na ito nagpakita pa sa kanya.

         Nagkalakas ng loob si Magda na magtapat sa ina sa pag-aakala nitong dadamayan siya ng ina. Nagulat siya ng sabihin ng ina na pupunta sila sa isang “abortionist” para ipalaglag ang bata dahil hindi niya matatanggap ang kahihiyang sasapitin ng anak at ng mga sasabihin ng tao sa kanila. Takot na takot at ayaw pumayag ni Magda sa nais ng ina ngunit wala siyang nagawa.

         Pagkaraan ng ilang araw, inisip ng ina na maayos na muli ang lahat at maaari na ulit magsimula ng bagong buhay ang anak niyang si Magda. Walang masasabing pangit ang mga tao tungkol sa kanila. Tanghali na ay di pa ito bumabangon para mag-almusal kaya pinuntahan na niya ito sa kwarto upang gisingin. Napasigaw ang ina ng makitang walang malay na nakahandusay sa sahig ang anak. Napakaraming dugo sa paligid nito na nagmumula sa kanyang hita. Agad isinugod niya ang anak sa pinakamalapit na hospital. Ngunit huli na ang lahat. Sabi ng doktor, kumalat na ang impeksyon sa katawan ni Magda. Hindi kinaya ng murang katawan nito ang biglaang pag-alis ng sanggol. Wala na silang magagawa.

         Umuwing tulala ang ina ni Magda. Wala ring kibo ang amang si Mang Berto. Parehong di nila matanggap ang sinapit ng kanilang kaisa-isang anak. Dahil sa kahihiyan at pag-iisip na baluktot, sinisisi ng ina ang sarili sa sinapit ng anak. Siya na dapat magtanggol sa buhay ng kanyang anak at magiging apo ang siyang kumitil ng mga buhay nila. Humingi man siya ng patawad sa kanila, huli na ang lahat…

A Responsible Netizen

         I will be a responsible user of any computer facility and any social networking sites such as Facebook, Friendster, Tweeter, Blogster, Google Buzz, and so may others. I will not use any means to harm any computer resources. Computers are provided for us mainly for academic use such as research works and advance studies. Much of it has been provided to become very useful to us all and must be used properly.
         I will not be reading other’s files without permission. I believe it should not be done by anybody to show respect and proper values. Computer facilities and personal accounts under somebody’s name is for exclusive use only and that password must remain secret and need not be told to others to maintain security and privacy. If others would allow me to log in to their username, I know I will be held responsible for any misbehavior or misconduct that account may commit when logged in under that username. It is therefore safer and secure not to use others’ accounts when unnecessary.
         And if someone discovers my password, I must immediately change it. To avoid getting others’ password, when someone is typing in his or her password, I should move away so there is no suspicion that I am trying to find out what it is. Obtaining access to facilities by logging in under a username which is not our own is illegal and prohibited if done without permission.
         I will not display any picture on the screen that may cause offense to others especially the children. I must be very careful what to post or put on display because once the pictures are posted, it is to assume that others can see them privately and publicly.
         If someone will offer me a copy of a program, I will make sure that I know what it does before copying it. I should not accept right away what is being readily offered to me.
I also know that destruction or alteration of any information or data on any computer (except of course that under our own username) is regarded as a serious malpractice and so it must be avoided.
          All information that is not our own on a computer must be treated as private and should not be retrieved or opened whether or not we are able to do so. Being a certified netizen user requires responsibility and accountability.

My Impression of Kapamilya Network’s Newest Teen Variety Show: Shout Out!

         Shout Out, a youth-oriented musical teen variety show airing live, everyday from Monday to Friday on Kapamilya network, ABS-CBN channel 2 which started just two months ago, is the station’s latest program that I think is slowly getting avid fans and supporters from the young audiences like me. One reason why the show is getting so much attention and liked by the young ones could be due to the variety show’s featured talents headed by the country’s most identifiable teen stars specifically Sam Concepcion who sings and dances very well, Enchong Dee who is a very good actor who also dances pretty well, the pretty and charming loveteam of Enchong, Erich Gonzales, the girl with an attractive face, Empress Schuck, the new heartthrob Robi Domingo, and the new talents Aaron Villaflor and Enrique Gil. In addition to them, I believe the new faces of the upcoming stars of ABS-CBN who alternately join the regular hosts, having different sets per day also help with the show’s success.
         The program primarily targets those who are of my age since we really show admiration and great interest to those young artists. Having the greater number of viewership from our age group, it draws its attention through us through live musical performances done by the abovementioned famous artists, also through interactive portions, funny and amusing games and inspirational segments which become the program’s major highlights.
         But since the show is being shown just as the time of school dismissal of some of us, most of the time we cannot watch the live show and just watched the recording later in youtube. Well, thanks to youtube because without it, I will not be able to watch my favorite stars like Sam and Enchong performed on the dance floor!
         The teen variety show, I believe serves as the training ground for all those new aspiring artists who would like to make a name in the show business industry in the near future. The show is like a continuous workshop for all of them to prepare them for a bigger and brighter world of showbiz!!!

Origin of My Blog's Name

         Having a lot of friends in school, in the Church, and in our neighborhood and being known to them as a very friendly person is what I want to become and be remembered for. I do not want to have any enemy or somebody who is mad at me because I truly want to live in peace and in harmony with the people around me. I want to get along real well with others having no trouble or any quarrels of any sort with them. But I know I cannot always please everybody with my words and actions because maybe there will be times that I will be tired, pressured of too much school activities and projects and that I might be seen not smiling but instead making faces due to tiresome, and so as early as now, I am telling everyone not to think of me as a bad person or an ungrateful one because truly I am not bad. Since I want to give peace the people I meet, I will always try and do my best to keep on smiling at them, saying kind words to them and trying to be polite always with them. So that when they think of me, I hope they could remember me as a person of peace and love.
         And so I chose the title of a peace giver for my blog for the people to know that is what I want of myself to become, a peace giver not of war and anger but of love and harmony. I want to be a giver of peace not only because of the people around me and most especially not because of myself, but because that is what I have learned from the seminars and teachings I have attended in the past in our Church, that God and Mama Mary want us always to become sharers of peace and love and not of anger and hatred, that Mama Mary and God love us more so tenderly if it is love we give to our neighbors. That if we give more love, more peace to others, the more it will be given to us in return. Also, that love and peace is not achieved through the material things here on earth, but of real peace with God and neighbors. Whatever trials and problems we encounter along the road, we will surely overcome and surpass them all if we have real peace in our hearts and if we become real peace givers.
